worlds changing hands

maybe i'll try to revive this thing. during the season it was hard to write anything that i thought would be informative, but also not give away anything valuable. before i write about how i had what was probably my worst performance at nationals (a future post), i'll point out that the last major title that the condors hold will be changing hands this week. however, since we can all agree that this is a watered down worlds, i vote for us all (the frisbee community that is, not just the 7 people that read this blog) continuing to recognize the condors as world club champions.

  • The next champion should just have an asterisk.
One that says, *2006 best team out of who decided to show up.*

Unless it's Buzz Bullets. Those guys are the most entertaining team I've ever seen play. They deserve the recognition.

  • As far as I'm concerned, they stopped keeping track after the summer of 2000.

  • Making the effort to show up is half the battle. Just because North Americans think their teams are stronger doesn't mean that there won't be a new World Champion, mainly because we felt it was too far to travel.

  • Yes a new team will be "World Champion" but everyone (not just North American teams) will know that the title is significantly less presitgious than it has been in the past due to the field that competed.

Considering the Condors the World Club Champions is off the charts ridiculous. Yes the field is watered down, but there is at least one US team better than the Condors competing in Australia according to the results from this recent club season.

  • from perth...

the buzz bullets are for real, and i am beginning to suspect that any team they brought to any tournament on US soil might be classified as a skeleton-crew.

if this week's play is an indication, i think they would have had a legitimate shot at semis in this year's UPAs...with more experience against top US teams who knows how good.
